Some files say 29.97 and others exactly 30.00. The numbers look almost identical. Over a long project, can that small difference matter enough to cause timing or duplicate-frame issues?

They are different time bases, though modern editors normally convert correctly. Problems arise when media is misinterpreted rather than handled as its actual rate.
