Does low proxy quality reduce the quality of the final MP4 export?

I made very low-resolution proxies so the laptop can edit smoothly. Will that make the final MP4 soft, or should the editor switch back to the original 4K files for render?

A correct proxy workflow uses original media for final render, so proxy resolution should not define output quality. That is its purpose: light editorial media, full-quality conform.

Still test it. Add a crop/text detail, export a short section, and verify the final has original resolution/detail. Manually substituted files can break the relationship.

Built-in proxy systems are safer than renaming files by hand because the software tracks which file is editorial and which is the source master.
