My HDR clips look good on the phone, but an SDR export either clips bright clouds or looks flat. I want a reliable conversion for normal web delivery.

What should I look for in an editor's tone-mapping workflow?

Look for predictable color management, a sensible tone-mapping stage, and the ability to preview the SDR result before export. We will compare editors using the same HDR source so 'automatic' and manual results can be judged side by side.

A same-source comparison will help. Most examples online use different footage for each editor, which makes it impossible to tell whether the software or the source is responsible.
