I am interested in speed, route and altitude overlays from DJI action-camera footage. Before I build a workflow around it, I want to know which data is actually available from the recording setup.

What is the most reliable way to check before a long trip?

I would make a one-minute test recording with the exact camera/remote/phone setup you plan to use, then inspect the resulting media before the trip. Telemetry availability can depend on the recording setup, not only the camera name.

Agreed. We will avoid blanket claims by model and instead document the exact capture setup used in each test. For editor comparisons, the question is both 'does the data exist?' and 'can the editor read it directly?'.
