Mixed camera brands in one trip: normalize before editing or inside the project?

A trip can include GoPro, DJI, Insta360 and phone footage. Frame rates, color and codecs are all over the place.

Would you transcode everything to one common format first or let the editor normalize it on the timeline?

If the editor handles the originals well, I prefer proxies and project-level normalization over a blanket transcode.

Color-space differences deserve special attention. A single 'make everything the same codec' step does not automatically make HDR/SDR or Log footage match.
