I have a clip where speed is believable but altitude jumps more than I expected. The route itself looks normal.

Would you smooth altitude separately, or leave the raw values alone so the overlay stays faithful to the camera data?

This is a good reason for editors to expose filtering/smoothing controls. We will label examples clearly when data is smoothed rather than presenting every gauge as raw telemetry.

For a presentation overlay I would allow light smoothing, but I would not silently turn it into 'ground truth'. GPS-derived altitude can be noisier than horizontal position.
