I am testing a 360 workflow and want to keep reframing flexible. With large 8K 360 files, native editing is attractive but can be heavy.

Where do you draw the line between keeping the source live and generating an intermediate/proxy?

I keep a proxy for responsiveness but preserve the original 360 file as the conform source. That gives me flexible reframing without forcing the laptop to decode full-quality media all the time.

Same. The key is making sure the proxy workflow does not change the spatial interpretation or disconnect the project from the high-quality original.
