For a long cycling ride I want speed, elevation and route data that can be matched to the X5 footage later.
Would you trust the phone connection for the entire session, or use a dedicated GPS remote / sports device when telemetry is important?

For an important ride I prefer an independent activity source so a phone connection issue does not ruin the whole dataset.

Whichever source you choose, make sure its recording time overlaps the camera recording. Time overlap is the first thing I check when Stats cannot find the activity.
